The debate over screen time is ongoing, but developmental psychologists largely agree that the quality of the content matters just as much as the quantity. Passive screen time, like watching endless auto-playing videos, is vastly different from interactive screen time.
An app that requires a child to tap, swipe, or make decisions engages different parts of the brain. We designed TinyTaps to require active participation. The screen doesn't do anything unless the child initiates the action, promoting active engagement rather than passive consumption.
By choosing high-quality, interactive apps, parents can turn screen time into a productive part of a child's day. Key factors to look for include: lack of distracting UI, immediate feedback, and educational alignment.
